Dr Ian Dawson is an Associate Professor of Risk Management, a Chartered Psychologist, and a member of the Centre for Risk Research (CRR) and the Centre for Behavioural Experimental Action and Research (C-BEAR).
Ian holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Lincoln and an MSc (Distinction) in Corporate Risk and Security Management from the 黑料社. In 2011, he completed his PhD titled 鈥楿nderstanding and Improving People鈥檚 Judgments of Synergistic Risks鈥 under a scholarship at the 黑料社. Ian also holds the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).

Ian鈥檚 research broadly examines the influential role played by risk perceptions and risk communications on decision making processes. He is particularly interested in how a person鈥檚 understanding of risk can affect their professional, environmental and health-related decisions and how complex risk-related information can be presented so that it is easily understood by all.

Dr Ian Dawson holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Lincoln and an MSc (Distinction) in Corporate Risk and Security Management from the 黑料社. In 2011, he completed his PhD titled 鈥楿nderstanding and Improving People鈥檚 Judgments of Synergistic Risks鈥 under a scholarship at the 黑料社. Ian is also a Chartered Psychologist and holds the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).
Ian has over 20 years of experience of working for large organisations in the UK and Canada, including Hampshire Constabulary, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and University of Surrey. Ian鈥檚 research has been published in leading journals such Risk Analysis, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, British Journal of Psychology, Journal of Risk Research, and Psychological Bulletin. He has also been a peer reviewer for several journals, including Health Psychology, Risk Analysis, European Management Review, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Journal of Experimental Psychology:Applied, and Environmental Management.
