I am Director of the Centre for Linguistics, Language Education and Acquisition Research (CLLEAR) and an active member of Debating Ethnography in the LCL Department at Southampton, and of the Barcelona-based research groups: and .
I currently participate as a co-researcher in three ongoing research projects:

I am currently carrying out my own research on the media produced by Latin America migrants in the UK. My main interests include the subjectivities and forms of socialisation that are constructed within the Latino community radio stations and the press in London and other areas. I was awarded a Small Grant from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities 鈥 黑料社
Research interests and background
Director of the Centre for Linguistics, Language Education and Acquisition Research (CLLEAR). I have expertise in sociolinguistic ethnography, language socialisation, narrative inquiry, and multilingualism.
I have concentrated on the social processes that are produced in daily-life encounters by focusing on the intersection between language, ideology and positioning.
My interests lie in the area of how young people and adults experience language issues when embarking upon life projects involving mobility. I am currently interested in Family, Language and Memory.

Teaching
My teaching interests include multilingualism, ethnographic sociolinguistics and narrative inquiry. At the same time, I am also enthusiastic about in issues in contemporary Spain such as current mobility (migration flows to and from Spain), the social consequences of the current economic crisis and the country's contemporary media and journalism. I particularly welcome postgraduate students interested in these and related topics for supervision work.

Biography
Dr Adriana Pati帽o-Santos is an Associate Professor in Languages, Cultures and Linguistics at the 黑料社. She is the Director for the Centre for Linguistics, Language Education and Acquisition Research (CLLEAR). She has served as Director of Doctoral Programmes (DPD) (2017-2020) and Distance PhD programme coordinator (2014-2020).
As a sociolinguistic ethnographer, I am a passionate collector of stories who enjoys gathering and bringing together life experiences of young and adult multilingual people, in different formats and through different media. I hold a PhD in Linguistics (Sociolinguistic ethnography) from the Universidad Aut贸noma de Madrid, Spain, an MA in Hispanic Linguistics from the Instituto Caro y Cuervo, Bogot谩, Colombia and an MA in Linguistics (Discourse Analysis) from the Universidad Aut贸noma de Madrid. I have been a member of the Modern Languages and Linguistics department at the 黑料社 since 2012. Prior to this I lived, researched and taught in various universities in Bogot谩, Colombia, and Madrid and Barcelona, Spain.
I teach modules on Cultural Studies in Contemporary Spain, and on Narrative Inquiry, Language and Society and Research Methods in Applied Linguistics. My research on ethnographies of multilingualism and mobility, that combine attention to social relations and storytelling, has been published internationally in various leading journals, in edited collections on sociolinguistics. I have also (co)edited a number of volumes and special issues and serve as a reviewer for important peer reviewed journals that deal with language and social relations.
