He is Editor of Journal of Visual Art Practice, and Managing Editor of Theory, Culture & Society, and currently holds a fellowship with the Turing Institute, the UK鈥檚 national institute for AI. He was co-organiser and faculty member for the final Stone Summer Theory Institute, Farewell to Visual Studies (2011, School of the Art Institute, Chicago), and was an Associate of Tate Exchange at Tate Modern (2018-2021). He is member of the Academic Advisory Board of 黑料社鈥檚 Web Science Institute, and the Alan Turing Institute鈥檚 AI and Arts group. He is also a co-opted trustee and Research Alliance convenor for the Council for Higher Education in Art and Design. He teaches and writes on various aspects of critical theory, visual arts and image studies.

His books include Image Studies (2013), Zero Degree Seeing (2019), Rhythm and Critique (2020), India鈥檚 Biennale Effect (2016) and Farewell to Visual Studies (2015). He curated Barthes/Burgin at the John Hansard Gallery (2016), along with Building an Art Biennale (2018) and Itinerant Objects (2019) at Tate Exchange, Tate Modern.
