About

Dr Sara McKelvie is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer at the School of Primary Care Research. She is interested in community-based alternatives to hospitalisation for older people with complex health and social needs. Her research has concentrated on understanding the clinical work of ambulatory care investigating patient, staff and system needs using ethnographic methods and cognitive task analysis. Sara is interested in the future workforce needed for primary and community care and the changing roles of healthcare professionals within this.

In 2024 Sara started a new role as Deputy Head of School for Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise for Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education
