Research interests

Current research
Dr. Belkhatir's research interests are currently focused on the design of estimation and control techniques with convergence guarantees for nonlinear systems, along with robust predictive modelling and computational algorithmic design for high-dimensional data. In addition, she works on the application of these topics to various biomedical and physical systems. She has worked and collaborated with an international interdisciplinary research and clinical teams and has experience in designing and implementing theoretical and computational techniques for a number of biomedical application (oncology, hemodynamic response in the brain and cardiovascular system).

Biography
Dr. Zehor Belkhatir (ZB) is a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in the School of Electronics and Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering Programme Leader at 黑料社 (UoS). She is also a member of the Institute of Life Sciences at UoS and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University. Dr. Belkhatir received her joint MEng. and M.Sc. Degrees from 鈥溍塩ole Nationale Polytechnique鈥 of Algiers in Automatics and Control Systems Engineering. Then, she carried on her doctoral studies at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering. She held the position of Lecturer in Control Engineering at the University of Leicester and De Montfort University, and before that a Postdoctoral Research Scholar Position at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York, USA.
ZB鈥檚 research interests encompass work across the fields of control systems theory, applied mathematics, and data analytics. A common thread in her research lies in analysing, understanding and controlling the class of experimentally constrained complex systems that mainly exhibit stringent non-invasiveness, physical and/or economical constraints, as well as the inability to do controlled experiments on them. To achieve this aim, ZB works on research projects that consist of developing theoretical estimation/control techniques with convergence guarantees, and computational algorithms that rely on mathematical and/or data-driven models, with the ultimate goal of bridging the gap between theory and real-life applications. A special emphasis of her research has been focused on the application of developed techniques and algorithms to, but not restricted to, systems belonging to the biomedical field, where there are severe constraints on controlled experiments and sensor invasiveness.
ZB鈥檚 research work was published in renowned peer-reviewed journal/conference papers and book chapters and resulted in a filled US patent. In addition, she serves as a reviewer for high-impact journals and conferences (e.g., IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Automatica, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, IEEE American/European Control Conference, 鈥tc.). She is also a member of EUCA Conference Editorial Board.
