About

Gilly is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the School of Health Sciences.  She is an experienced Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) and Adult Nurse with a PhD from the University of Portsmouth. 

Gilly has worked in higher education for a number of years, both as a Lecturer and Senior Teaching Fellow, teaching on both undergraduate and postgraduate pre-registration nursing programmes.  She is module lead for the NPCG1028 Global and Public Health module in the undergraduate curriculum and teaches on other modules across the pre-registration nursing programmes, including Fundamental Aspects of Care, Person Centred Care and Transitioning 鈥 Meeting Challenges in Contemporary Children鈥檚 Nursing. 

Gilly鈥檚 research interests are around the public health needs of children aged 0-5 years, with a specialist interest in sleep disturbances and the wider impacts on both child and family.  Her clinical expertise is in public health and safeguarding, with a focus on vulnerable populations and reducing health inequalities. 

Gilly is also a peer reviewer for the Journal of Health Visiting.
