This PhD project is about pushing the boundaries in manufacturing, and making lasers become autonomous decision-makers, guiding us into a future of faster, cleaner, and more precise production processes.
In this project you will be working with a large research team in Southampton and with our colleagues from the University of Texas, USA on heterogeneous integration of silicon photonics devices with barium titanate (BaTiO3 or BTO), a material that has one of the largest modulation effects, using mass manufacturable techniques and new design ideas.
In this project you will be working on the design and fabrication of silicon photonics circuits that operate in the mid-infrared wavelength region where the drugs have distinct absorption fingerprints.
We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD candidate to join our research team for a project focused on developing photonic integrated circuits for UV-green wavelengths.
