Dr Dylan Menzies is a Visiting Fellow in the Signal Processing, Audio & Hearing Group within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the ºÚÁÏÉç.

He was recently working on the EPSRC project 'SRA' developing new methods for spatial audio reproduction in an object-based environment. These include the Compensated Amplitude Panning (CAP) system, which uses tracked head rotation to produce stable broadband 3D scenes with as few as two loudspeakers This overcomes some limitations of conventional cross-talk cancelling systems. Other areas of research within S3A include compensation of room acoustics by modification of object-based reverberation encoding, and representing and decoding sub-scenes. Currently Dylan is engaged in commercial development of some outcomes of the S3A project.
