Lecturing and tutoring on the cardiopulmonary module for BM5/EU Y1 students
I am an Associate Professor and Consultant in Respiratory medicine, having completed my PhD in 2021, and NIHR Clinical Lectureship and Certificate of Completion of Training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in 2022. My PhD allowed me to develop my skills in bioinformatics and advanced cell culture working with M.tuberculosis. The main output used clinical samples from untreated tuberculosis and sarcoidosis patients to study the early events in disease development and identified critical pathways. In parallel, I performed containment level 3 work using 3-dimensional cell culture to identify a cellular model with the most similar gene signature to tuberculosis patient samples. Integrating both transcriptomic outputs identified potential new new host-directed therapeutic targets.
